Finally, my Armour Ring.
I can't believe I bought this on a whim.
I was just passing by a boutique today; the sun was out and positive waves were soaring around happily. I guess the sun does that to you; makes everyone happy. I like this small cluttered boutique with quirky fashion items all crammed into a small shop floor; I like a lot of what I see, but I haven't bought anything. Yet.
It was there in the shop display unit, and since I know how quickly the sizes sell out, or the fact that they don't usually stock small sizes, I wasn't all that hopeful when I asked the sales assistant for this ring. Surprisingly they did have it in stock (*^^*)
I'm not usually one for gothic or large pieces of jewellery; not because I dislike it, but it simply doesn't suit me as well as other pieces, I feel. Being a rather petite/delicate looking (I really don't like it but people say so), I'm perhaps suited to finer pieces of accessories. Nonetheless, my crazy personality makes up for it and it doesn't stop me from purchasing anything I like (*^0^*).
This ring reminds me of several things:
My love for rebellious fashion and Vivienne Westwood items,
The strength of Nana and her hardships, her determination to stay strong alone and hold her own,
and finally,
Alice Nine's song "Armor Ring".
A ring is said to hold you together with someone else, a symbol of bonding - like marriage. And it is a ring because it is never ending; for eternity. A love and bond that lasts forever. So they say.
I like the words "Armor Ring". Why? because in addition to all of that above, it makes you feel as if there is some sort of protection. Not only you're bound to this person who gives you this ring, but they treasure you, they want to protect you, you're precious. And that's why I like this ring so much. Who cares if it's famous, or who wore it ~ the name made me fall for it. Armor Ring.
I guess that's why Alice Nine chose that title for their 'wedding song'. It's a pun, a play on one of the most famous J-Rock/Visual Kei fashion items out there. It's very well done, I'd say.
So, what if you don't have a lover and you bought it yourself? All that cliche, romantic stuff goes out the window? Yeah, kind of. But no. For me it reminds me that, one should protect oneself too. Until the day someone is there for you and even after that, one should never lose themselves and stay strong through hardships and learn to treasure themselves. Like Nana perhaps? Perhaps.
It's just a ring, really. But for me, I like collecting things that have meaning, things I will love rather than things that are just for show. At the end of the day, anything you wear is expressed by YOU. Part of your personality is expressed or exposed by anything you wear, or own.. and your actions. So adding extra thought sometimes isn't such a bad idea *^^* Of course we all buy stuff randomly and things we do on a whim, but once in a while, it's nice to do or get something really meaningful. Don't you think? (*^^*)
