- Tunnels is a comedic duo
- In Japanese, "end-of-the-year party" is made up from the words "forget", "year" and "meeting", so they are held to forget all of the troubles and hardships of the previous year

- "Makkori" is the Japanese pronunciation of an alcoholic Korean drink, Makgeolli
- Jang Geun Seok (sometimes Keun or Suk is used) is a South Korean actor / singer who is popular in Japan. He released one single in Japanese
- Jang Pon Suk is what Hiroto dubbed himself on Twitter

- Beyblades is a Japanese manga / cartoon, which they use a spinning top to fight
- A woman's kimono is held together with a piece of cloth that is wrapped around her (like a belt), so there used to be jokes that perverted lords in the old days would undress her, and pull off her belt so fast that she would spin around
- The Edo period (or Tokugawa period) was from around 1603 - 1868
